Overview
Sound Postcard is intended to convert sound message to Macromedia Flash movie, which may additionally contain elements to control sound playback, such as play, stop and pause buttons along with progress bar and background image.
Together all these elements form sound postcard that can be embedded on the web page or sent via e-mail.
This program can be used to create sound postcards, music demo singles, to create sound enriched educational programs or web sites. Created movies can be placed in HTML, Word, Excel and other types of documents, published in the Internet or included into e-mail message. The program also allows you to record the voice message from a microphone and place the message into a postcard via single button click.
No other additional software required. All you need to create a postcard in Macromedia Flash format is the only Sound Postcard software.
The Sound Postcard is ideal for creating sound enriched documents to be published in the Internet or transmitted via network, because it allows a sound to be streamed via network. This means that sound message is downloaded and played back at the same time and your users don't need to wait while the whole file to be copied on their computers. This is perfect solution for publishing music demos or speeches in a network.
Want to congratulate your friend? Or publish your speech in the Internet? Maybe music single? Need really optimal format for your sound message with streaming over network? No problems. With Sound Postcard all this is just a fingertip away.
Basic definitions
The software output is movie in Macromedia Flash format, which is also referred to as SWF format. Everywhere below we will use SWF format abbreviation. This movie is the sound postcard itself. Sound postcard elements are sound message, background image and player controls (play, stop and pause). All these elements are encoded into resulting SWF movie by the Sound Postcard software. Background image and player controls form movie definition also called movie skin. The movie skin can be applied to any number of sound files or/and voice messages, allowing user to create postcards that look similar but have different sound messages encoded in them. Movie skin can be saved to a file and can be used later immediately to create postcards or as template to create new skins.
Program interface
Software interface consists of main window and several dialog boxes. The main program window is divided into five parts listed below:
1. Main menu
2. Tree of movie elements
3. Property editor

2 Elements of movie skin
Movie skin consists of several groups of elements. The groups are displayed on the left pane of the software namely tree of movie elements. When you activate a group by clicking it, property editor on the right pane displays properties of the group. To expand/collapse tree nodes use plus icon on the left side of a tree node. You can also use keyboard to navigate the tree, in this case you should use Enter to display properties of a highlighted group.
Below are groups of movie skin elements:
Files. This group contains names of input and output files.
Main form. This group is responsible for movie size and background image.
Buttons. This group contains definitions for play, stop and pause buttons. All buttons have similar structure and consist of three pictures (one image for every button state).
Progress. This group allows to define progress bar, which indicates current position in sound message and allows to change the position. Progress bar consists of two elements: progress box image and progress step image.
3 Using property editor
Property editor resides on top part of the main window right pane. Every field displayed in the editor has two columns: property name and property value. Properties are divided into several types listed below.
Picture property. You can specify path to a picture file in two ways: manually and using file browser. To edit a picture property manually just activate it by clicking it with a mouse and type a path in the edit box. There is also [...] button on the right side of the property, you can use this button to launch file browser and locate picture file.
Number property. Similarly, there are two ways to specify value for this type of property: manually and using spin button. After activating a number property you can either type a value in the edit box or use spin on the right side of the box to increase or decrease the value.
Color property. You should use [...] button on the right side of a color property to launch color picker and specify a color.
To apply changes made using property editor and refresh skin editor working area you must press Enter after changing some property value. Changes are also applied automatically when a property is deactivated and input focus moves to other property or interface element.
